Kailash Wati Varma (KWV) Public School was founded in 2016 in village Kheri Khurd, Shyampur, Rishikesh, under the aegis of Kailash Wati Varma Ashram, a registered charitable trust. The Trust was founded in 2013 by two retired teachers Ms Manorama Bhatnagar and her cousin brother Dr Narendra Swarup Bhatnagarwith the objective of facilitating holistic education and other related activities, supporting the underprivileged sections of the Society in the rural regions. The driving force behind these endeavours was Ms Manorama Bhatnagar who retired as Head of the Department of Drawing & Painting in 1991 from MKP (PG) College, a premier girl's institution founded in 1902 in Dehradun. She bequeathed half her worldly assets to the Trust with a proviso that a corpus be created and only its interest be utilised for the Trust activities. The Trust did just that after her unfortunate demise in 2019.
